GDP#034 Watercolour ‘Hi’ Card

Hello! Today’s card was created for this week’s Global Design Project sketch challenge by Teneale Williams.

The inspiration for my card was drawn not only from the awesome sketch but also two GDP designer’s cards.

For my card I started by watercolouring multiple layers of Daffodil Delight, Pumpkin Pie and Marina Most ink: I was going for a sunrise look, inspired by this photo and Jessica’s card.
Using the look of Louise’s watercolouring for inspiration, I coloured about three layers of ink for each of the three colours to create a textured, multi-layered look to add more interest to my otherwise simple card. To achieve this, I started by colouring a layer of the lightest colour ink (Daffodil Delight), dried it using the heat tool and then followed with two more layers of colour, drying in between layers. I then moved onto the Pumpkin Pie and Marine Mist areas, following the same process. Ensure that the Daffodil Delight ink is completely dry before colouring with Marina Mist to deter the colours mixing and ending up with too much green in your sunrise.

After watercolouring, I embossed the ‘Hi’ cloud from the ‘I Think You’re Great’ stamp set using silver emboss powder and fussy cut the cloud, layering it onto dimensionals and adding a few loops of silver thread before adhering it to the watercolour sunrise.
The finish off the card, layer the watercolour sunrise piece onto a Shimmery White card base, using dimensionals and adhere three clear sequins (from the Metallics sequins assortment) using glue dots. Glue dots are the perfect size for the round sequins and the tiny bit of dimension from the glue dots makes the sequins more noticeable.
