Have you seen the gorgeous new Perfect Peacock stamp yet? It is stunning and so much fun to stamp with. Rather than colouring it in ‘normal’ peacock colours, Katie decided to colour one in red, orange and yellow to create a Phoenix.
The Phoenix is showcased in an ornate black frame and is matted on black cardstock to make it pop.
The Phoenix was coloured with Stampin’ Blendabilties in Cherry Cobbler, Pumpkin Pie and Daffodil Delight. The background echoes these colours, blended in a similar manner with ink and daubers to create an ombre look. Gold accents were created by heat embossing with black powder onto gold foil paper. The eye, crest and all 44 ocellus (the “eyes” on the tail feathers) were painstakingly embossed and cut out with paper snips. This project took a lot of time (and patience!) but is most definitely worth it. The photos don’t quite do it justice – it is so stunning in real life (particularly when the light catches the gold foil accents).
I hope you enjoyed this project, contact me if you would like to purchase any of these products to create your own Phoenix. Thanks for stopping by, come back again soon!
