GDP#034 Watercolour ‘Hi’ Card

Hello! Today’s card was created for this week’s Global Design Project sketch challenge by Teneale Williams.

The inspiration for my card was drawn not only from the awesome sketch but also two GDP designer’s cards.

For my card I started by watercolouring multiple layers of Daffodil Delight, Pumpkin Pie and Marina Most ink: I was going for a sunrise look, inspired by this photo and Jessica’s card.
Using the look of Louise’s watercolouring for inspiration, I coloured about three layers of ink for each of the three colours to create a textured, multi-layered look to add more interest to my otherwise simple card. To achieve this, I started by colouring a layer of the lightest colour ink (Daffodil Delight), dried it using the heat tool and then followed with two more layers of colour, drying in between layers. I then moved onto the Pumpkin Pie and Marine Mist areas, following the same process. Ensure that the Daffodil Delight ink is completely dry before colouring with Marina Mist to deter the colours mixing and ending up with too much green in your sunrise.

After watercolouring, I embossed the ‘Hi’ cloud from the ‘I Think You’re Great’ stamp set using silver emboss powder and fussy cut the cloud, layering it onto dimensionals and adding a few loops of silver thread before adhering it to the watercolour sunrise.
The finish off the card, layer the watercolour sunrise piece onto a Shimmery White card base, using dimensionals and adhere three clear sequins (from the Metallics sequins assortment) using glue dots. Glue dots are the perfect size for the round sequins and the tiny bit of dimension from the glue dots makes the sequins more noticeable.

Thanks for stopping by. Be sure to check out the Global Design Project to see lots of inspiring and creative watercolour cards.

Love You 8-bit Heart Card

Hello crafters, Katie here. Today’s card is part of the international blog highlight for Stampin’ Up!® Demonstrators around the world, organised by awesome Aussie demo Kylie Bertucci. The theme for the blog highlight is ‘love‘ whether that be wedding, anniversary, baby, romance, friend/family etc.

One of the awesome things about this highlight is you can VOTE for your favourite five cards and the top five demonstrators whose cards had the most votes get to take part in an international blog hop with Kylie and other talented, successful demonstrators. How fun! I would love if you could to vote for my card, just click the heart❤ in the top right hand side of the picture at Kylie’s blog, linked above🙂

My card was made for my sister, who loves video games, and will soon be jetting off to the UK for a month-long holiday (and is adamant I won’t fit in her suitcase, boo!). In our family we have a little tradition, whenever someone goes on holiday overseas the night before they leave we hide a letter somewhere in their bag…usually in a shoe or toiletry case which won’t be opened/used until they arrive at their destination. The letter is like a little piece of home, where we let our family member know we love and miss them and hope they have a good time. Whenever that person is feeling a little homesick they can read the letter and know they’re loved.

Anyway, back to the card! This card was made with Sally and her upcoming trip in mind. Though the card is clean and simple (not my usual style), it did take a little while to put together as the heart is made up of individual squares of cardstock to represent pixels, in keeping with the gaming concept.image

It’s all worth it in the end though.  Continue reading
